Rams Sweep Oklahoma Christian, Down Eagles 92-72

SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Angelo State men's basketball team found a way to get the offense going as the Rams completed the series sweep over Oklahoma Christian, winning game two 92-72 at Stephens Arena at the Junell Center on Monday afternoon.

Sam Moore got things going for the Rams (3-3, 3-3 LSC) early on, sinking two three-pointers before back-to-back buckets by Lavaris Duncan gave ASU a 22-10 lead in the opening half.

Oklahoma Christian (0-3, 0-3 LSC) kept the game close after that, hitting two threes before Foster scored six straight points to come within four points at 29-25 with just over seven minutes to go.

With 3:17 left in the first half, the Rams rattled off eight straight points, including six from Devaughn Thomas to bring the lead back to double digits before heading into the locker room up 48-39.

The Rams finished the day shooting 48 percent from the field, including a 36 percent mark from three-point range, while the defense held the Eagles to 39 percent from the floor. Angelo State dominated under the basket, outrebounding Oklahoma Christian 51-38 while scoring 42 of its points in the paint.

Moore led ASU in scoring with 19 points, going 3-of-5 from three and Paul Williams added 13 points after finishing with 20 last night. Duncan led the Rams in rebounding with 12 to go along with six points while Salisu Yahaya finished with 11 points.

The Eagles opened the second half on a 9-2 run, scoring seven straight points to cut the deficit to five, but a 14-point run by the Rams, led by Burone Edwards and Williams, brought the lead back to double digits for the remainder of the game.

Sam Baker contributed 10 points on the day, shooting 4-of-9 from deep while Edwards collected nine points along with eight rebounds.
