Odessa, Texas – A slow start for the nation's sixth-ranked team saw them drop the first set of tonight's contest against UT Permian Basin; however, the Belles were able to rebound and claim victory over the Falcons in four sets.
The Belles committed 13 of their 22 attack errors in the first set, allowing the hosts to sneak the set away from the Belles despite UTPB only recording eight kills in the set.
Separate runs of 7-0 and 5-0 for the Belles in the second set saw them cruise to a 25-13 set two victory; clusters of three- and four-point runs for the Belles tipped the third set in their favor; the Belles claimed a back-and-forth final set by scoring the match's final three points.
Quite a few Belles stuffed the stat sheet on the evening: Delaney Fuller recorded a match-high 14 kills and a career-high 20 digs for her fifth double-double on the season and second in as many matches.
Kailyn Gilbreath recorded her fifth-career triple-double and her third one this season (and third one in as many weeks) with 10 kills, 22 assists and 17 digs.
Elsa Lamphere and Grace White buried ten kills each; Lamphere blocked four Falcons attacks while White hit .667 for the match, not committing an attacking error in 15 attempts.
Chloe Patton had 25 digs while Makenna Hanssen had 12 of her own as the Belles recorded a season-high 99 digs for the match.
Freshman Jaedyn Woolley notched her second-career double-double with 20 assists and a career-high 12 digs off the bench, and Baleigh Allen tallied seven kills and six blocks.
The Belles improve to 18-3 on the season and 11-1 in conference play; they sit in a tie for the top spot in the LSC standings with UT Tyler, owning the tiebreaker over the Patriots. The Belles return to action on Saturday against Western New Mexico.
