SAN ANGELO – The Belle Soccer team, unbeaten in their last three matches in LSC play, will host UT Permian Basin on Wednesday before going on the road to DBU on Saturday for a rematch of this past spring's LSC Championship match.
Before the match on Wednesday, the Belles from this past spring will receive their LSC Championship rings in a pregame ceremony, which will start at approximately 6:45 p.m.
The Belles' defense has not allowed a goal in their last three matches, only holding their opposition to 11 shots, which only two of those challenging Belles goalkeeper
Kira Miller.
Miller, who has recorded 18 saves on the season, is tied for the conference lead with six shutouts this season.
On the season, the Belles on average, are out-shooting their opponents 17.8 to 5.0 per game, with almost half of those coming on target.
Midfielders
Avery McNeme and
Valerie Solis are tied for the conference lead in assists with six on the season.
Cindy Rodriguez leads the team with four goals on the season, followed closely by freshman
Grace Jordan, who had a goal and an assist in last week's home victory over Texas A&M International.
SCOUTING THE FALCONS
UTPB is 1-8 overall on the season and 0-4 in conference play, with their lone win of the season being a 5-0 win over NAIA institution Oklahoma Panhandle.
The Falcons have yet to score in conference play, being outscored 21-0 in their past five contests.
The Belles have not lost to the Falcons since 2011 under head coach
Travis McCorkle, winning 12 in a row, including a 6-0 win this past spring for the Belles.
SCOUTING THE PATRIOTS
DBU is the eighth-ranked team in the country in this week's USC Coaches Poll. The Patriots are 7-2 on the season and 3-1 in conference play, having dropped their last contest to Lubbock Christian last Saturday.
The Belles are 4-2 all-time against the Patriots, having prevailed in overtime in last spring's LSC Championship tournament final.
The Patriots have three players – Michelle Gonzalez, Delaney Schmidt and Ashley Merrill – who have each scored five times this season. Midfielder Abigail Olmos has four goals to go along with four assists this season.
After this week, the Belles will host West Texas A&M at home on October 13
th before traveling to East Texas to face Texas A&M-Commerce on Saturday.
