SAN ANGELO – The Belle Soccer team entered the final day of the regular season with a spot clinched in next week's LSC Tournament and a tough matchup against Midwestern State, who sat second in the conference standings entering today.
Despite outshooting the visitors 11-4, the two teams entered halftime having not found paydirt. For the match, the Belles outshot their opponents 18-9, with seven shots on target to the Mustangs' five.
The Mustangs would score the first goal in the 60th minute before the Belles would equal things up when Valerie Solis found Grace Jordan for Jordan's fifth goal of the season. The assist is the eighth for the midfielder Solis, second-best mark on the team.
The Belles' defense would hold tight, even forcing more chances in the overtime period; however, the Mustangs would walk off the match with only 30 seconds left, with Kelly Cannistra scoring her second goal of the match for the visitors.
The Belles wrap up the regular season with a 12-4-2 record and 7-4-2 record in conference play. They will enter next week's conference tournament as the sixth seed, where they will take on three-seed Texas Woman's on Tuesday in Denton.
