Kingsville, Texas – The Belles were unable to overcome a slow start Saturday afternoon against Texas A&M-Kingsville, dropping the non-conference matchup 61-43.
The Belles only shot 27.6 percent from the field for the contest and trailed 17-7 after one quarter and 29-12 at half.
An improved second half saw the Belles outscore the hosts in the final quarter.
Tayjanna McGhee-Pleasant and
Blakely Gerber scored eight points each to lead the Belles. McGhee-Pleasant grabbed six rebounds and Gerber shot 3-8 from the field.
Madison Honea hit a pair of threes for her six points on the afternoon; additionally, every single Belles who saw the floor this afternoon got their name on the scoresheet.
The Belles are back in action next week in Brownwood, Texas when they take on St. Edward's in a non-conference matchup.
