OKLAHOMA CITY, Oklahoma – The Angelo State Belle basketball team played valiantly against the Oklahoma Christian, but a last second made three pointer from the Eagles snatched the victory from the Belles, 69-67.
Sadie Misner knocked down a three pointer to take a one point lead over the Eagles in the first quarter, 3-2, with 8:34 on the clock to begin the game for Angelo State. Oklahoma Christian sank two free throws and made a layup to extend their lead to three over Angelo State, 6-3, but a made layup from Misner brought the Belles within one point, 6-5.
The Eagles started following into a rhythm halfway through the first quarter, scoring eight unanswered points to extend their lead to 10 while keeping the Belles from scoring defensively, 14-5. Two free throws from
Samantha Rocha and a three pointer from
Lana Marov cut the Belles deficit to four with 3:29 left in the quarter, 14-10.
The Eagles sank another three pointer to take a lead of seven over the Belles, but two back to back threes from
Madisen Honea and Marov brought Angelo State within a point of Oklahoma Christians lead, 17-16. OCU scored two layups and a free throw to take a six point lead over the Belles, but two free throws from Misner cut their lead to four to end the quarter, 22-18.
Misner began the second quarter on the foul line and making a free throw to cut their deficit to three, 22-19, but a layup from the Eagles brought OCUs lead back to five, 24-19. A made three pointer from
Madeline Stephens cut the Eagles lead to two over Angelo State with 6:57 left in the first half, 24-22. The Eagles responded quickly and scored a layup to push their lead to four over Angelo State, but a three pointer from Marov cut their lead back to one, 26-25.
Oklahoma Christian scored a jump shot to extend their lead to three, but a three from beyond the arch from Misner tied the game up at, 28-28, with 4:17 left on the clock. The Eagles sank two free throws, but a jumper from Rocha tied the game again at 30-30. Oklahoma Christian quickly took the lead again, scoring a three pointer to lead by three, 36-33. A free throw from Stephens ended the half for the Belles as the Eagles sank four free throws to take a six point lead over Angelo State, 40-34.
Sawyer Lloyd quickly sank a three pointer to cut the Eagles lead to three in the third quarter, 40-37, but Oklahoma Christian responded rapidly by sinking a layup in the paint and a three pointer from beyond the arch to take a lead of eight over ASU, 45-37. Stephens sank a three pointer with 7:32 left in the third quarter to cut the Belles deficit to five, 45-40.
The Eagles once again found their rhythm, scoring eight more unanswered points to grow their lead to 11, while keeping the Belles from scoring for almost two minutes, 51-40. The Blue and Gold responded quickly and scored seven unanswered points to cut the Eagles lead to four, 51-47. Oklahoma Christian scored a layup to extend their lead to six, but the Belles kept control of the ball for the rest of the quarter, tying the game at 53-53 and taking their first lead of the night to lead the Eagles by six, 59-53, leading into the fourth quarter.
The Belles and the Eagles traded baskets back and forth throughout the first four minutes of the fourth quarter, with Angelo State leading Oklahoma Christian by three with 6:42 left on the clock, 63-60. For the next five minutes, neither team scored a point until the Eagles made a layup, being fouled in the process and sinking the free throw to tie the game at 63-63 with 1:38 left in the game.
Misner drove into the paint and made a layup to take back the lead over Oklahoma Christian, 65-63, but a made three pointer from the Eagles gave Oklahoma Christian a one point lead over the Belles with 46 seconds left on the clock, 66-65. Lloyd managed to drive the lane and make a layup, but a buzzer beating three pointer from the Eagles ended the game for the Belles as Oklahoma Christian defeated Angelo State, 69-67.

- Misner led the Belles offensively once again, scoring 15 points for Angelo State. Shooting 5-11 from the field, 2-4 from the three point line, and 3-5 from the free throw line, Misner grabbed two defensive rebounds, along with two steals to end the night.
- Stephens followed closely behind on offense, scoring 13 points while shooting 5-8 from the field, 2-2 from the three point line, and 1-4 from the free throw line. Stephens led the Belles defensively, grabbing 11 boards, one offensive and 10 defensive, while registering two blocks and a steal.
- Lloyd scored 12 points for the Belles, grabbing three defensive rebounds while registering eight assists and two steals for Angelo State.
