Belles Host ASU Invitational Tournament

SAN ANGELO, Texas – The No. 3 Angelo State Belle volleyball hosts their ASU Invitational tournament starting on Friday, February 26 and ending on Saturday, February 27. Three other Lone Star Conference teams will be participating in the tournament including Midwestern State, Texas A&M International, and Western New Mexico.

Scouting the Competition:
Midwestern State is currently 5-3 overall with a 5-3 LSC record after splitting a home series with Oklahoma Christian on this past week. The Mustangs lost to the Eagles in five sets in the first game, and swept the Eagles in the second match. The last time that Angelo State and Midwestern State played each other was on November 1, 2019, where the Belles swept the Mustangs in three sets in the Stephens Arena. The Belles lead the all-time series against the Mustangs, 36-11.
 
Texas A&M International is currently 3-5 overall with a 3-5 conference record after defeating the St. Mary's Rattlers at home in two matches this past week. The Dustdevils defeated the Rattlers in four set in both matches, 3-1. The last time that Angelo State and Texas A&M International played each other was on November 11, 2016, where the Belles swept the Dustdevils in three sets in Kingsville, Texas. Angelo State leads the series against the Dustdevils, 2-1.
 
Western New Mexico is currently 0-1 overall after losing to the UT Permian Basin Falcons in Odessa, Texas on February 16, 2021 in three sets. The last time that Angelo State and Western New Mexico played each other was on Thursday, October 2019, where the Belles swept the Mustangs in three sets in New Mexico. Since 2006, the Belles have played the Mustangs 12 times, leading the series 10-2.
