LAREDO, Texas – The Angelo State men's basketball team tallied their third straight win as the Rams ended the regular season with a 75-67 win over Texas A&M International on the road, earning the fifth-seed in the Lone Star Conference Tournament.
The Rams improve to 8-9 on the season in the conference play which puts that at No. 5 according to the point rating system that replaced winning percentage for the LSC's basketball conference standings, divisional standings, and conference tournament seeding in 2020-21.
Playing against the Dustdevils for the second night in a row, TAMIU kept the game much closer this time with only nine points separating the teams at halftime with ASU holding a 72-33 advantage.
Sam Moore led the Rams on offense, tallying a season-high 22 points off of 3-of-6 shooting. Behind him, Kevon Godwin finished with 14 points and added four assists while Elijah Moleon finished the game with 13 points.
The Rams capitalized on mistakes by TAMIU, earning 26 points off turnovers, and shot 50 percent or higher from the field for the second game in a row.
Burone Edwards added nine points for the Rams while Paul Williams finished with eight points, five rebounds and four assists.
The Rams will open the first round of the LSC tournament on Tuesday, Mar. 2, as Angelo State travels to fourth-seeded Texas A&M - Kingsville.
