No. 9 Rambelles Prepare for Match Against No. 6 Javelina in LSC Semifinal Match

SAN ANGELO, Texas – The No. 9 Angelo State Belle volleyball team travels to Tyler, Texas as they face the No. 6 Texas A&M-Kingsville Javelinas in the semifinal match of the Lone Star Conference tournament, host by the University of Texas Tyler Patriots.

Series Matchup:
The last time that Angelo State and Texas A&M-Kingsville played each other was on November 8, 2018 where Kingsville defeated the Belles in the first round of the LSC tournament in Stephenville, Texas. Since 2006, ASU and TAMUK have played each other 22 times, with Angelo State leading the series, 18-4.
 
Scouting the Javelinas:
The Javelinas are led offensively by freshman middle blocker, Ayanna Jackson. Jackson has played and started in all 13 matches this season, registering 148 kills and averaging 3.15 kills per set. She has scored 181 points and averages 3.85 points per set and has registered a .264 hitting percentage for the season. Jackson is currently ranked seventh in the conference for hitting percentage with a .264, and eighth in the conference for kills. The freshman from San Antonio, Texas also leads the team in blocks on defense as well registering 58 blocks, eight of which are solo blocks, averaging 1.23 blocks per set.
 
Scouting the Belles:
  • Kailyn Gilbreath leads the Belles offense this season, scoring 228 points and averaging 4.07 points per set for the Belles. The junior from Fort Worth, Texas has tallied 195 kills on the season thus far, averaging 3.48 kills per set, and is currently ranked third in the conference in kills. Gilbreath has also shown her talent as a setter as well, tallying 176 assists and averages 3.14 assists per set for the Belles. On defense, Gilbreath has registered 148 digs and averages 2.64 digs per set, and has blocked 32 balls this season, averaging .57 blocks per set.
  • Lindsey Ledyard continues to be a valuable asset for the Belles on both sides of the ball, registering 401 and averaging 7.86 assists per set for Angelo State and is currently ranked fifth in the conference. The senior from Cedar Park has scored 38.5 points and averages.75 points per set and registered 18 kills and 15 service aces on offense. Ledyard has registered 132 digs for the Blue and Gold, averaging 2.59 digs per set and 10 total blocks on the season, one of which was a solo block, on defense.
  • Chloe Patton leads the Belles defensively this season with 319 digs registered against Angelo States opponents, averaging 5.70 digs per set for the Belles and is currently ranked second in the conference for digs. Patton has scored seven points for Angelo State this season, six of which were from service aces. The junior from Gillett has tallied 50 assists on the season so far, averaging .89 assists per set.
