WICHITA FALLS, Texas – The 13th-ranked Angelo State women's tennis team picked up two victories today, defeating Southern Baptist 4-3 and Southeastern Oklahoma State 5-2 on Friday. 

With both wins, the Belles improve to 5-3 in their final duals before Lone Star Conference play begins. 

ASU fell behind early against the Bearcats, dropping two doubles matches as SBU took the early point. 

In singles play, Maria Delgadillo scored for the Belles, winning at the No. 4 spot, 7-6, 6-3, followed by Dianela Rodriguez winning at No. 3 6-3, 6-4. 

After Virginie Becht came back on to win at No. 5, 4-6, 6-3, 7-6, Alexandra Vishnevskaya clinched the match at No. 6 with a 6-2, 6-2 win in straight sets. 

In the second match of the day, the Belles jumped ahead as Ayda Guler and Maria Delgadillo opened doubles play with a 6-4 win while Ena Ovcina and Valentina Gonzalez clinched the doubles point with a 7-6 victory. 

Ovcina carried her success into singles play, winning 6-1, 6-4 in straight sets, while Becht won at the No. 5 spot, 6-0, 6-3. 

Gonzalez clinched the match for the Belles, hanging on to win 6-1, 4-6, 6-3. 

Angelo State will begin LSC action after a small break, hosting Texas A&M – Kingsville on Saturday, Mar. 20, at the ASU Tennis Courts.
