SAN ANGELO, Texas – The 12
th-ranked Angelo State women's tennis team closed out the home portion of the Lone Star Conference regular-season, defeating Arkansas Fort Smith 7-0 at the ASU Tennis Courts.
The Belles' winning streak continues as they improve to 13-3 on the season and 8-0 in conference play, extending the streak to 10 straight duals.
Anna Schneemann and
Maria Delgadillo started things off for the Belles in doubles, winning their match 6-0 at No. 3 before
Ayda Guler and
Valentina Gonzalez clinched the point with a 6-3 win.
Zoe Gubbels and
Virginie Becht also won their match at the top spot, winning 6-4 to sweep the doubles competitions.
In singles play, 13
th-ranked Gonzalez made quick work of her opponent at No. 1, winning in straight sets 6-1, 6-3 to give ASU a 2-0 advantage.
Gubbels also won in straight sets, defeating her opponent 6-1, 6-1 while Delgadillo clinched the match with a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 2.
Closing out the match, Becht held on to win 6-1, 4-6, 10-2 at No. 4 while
Alexandra Vishnevskaya won 7-6, 7-6 and Schneemann won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 6.
The Belles will close out the regular-season next week as they travel for one match on the weekend against UT Tyler on Friday, Apr. 23.
