The Angelo State football team will look to bounce back from last week's loss as the Rams return to the road to take on non-conference opponent Central Washington, making their longest road trip of the season.

LAST WEEK:
The Rams suffered their first loss of the season last week as they fell to Midwestern State 35-17 in their home opener to begin Lone Star Conference play. The Mustangs scored first, hitting a nine-yard pass for a touchdown. MSU would continue to find success through the air, tossing five total touchdown passes while totaling 391 yards passing. ASU's run game continued to remain strong, rushing for 253 yards as a team, led by
Nathaniel Omayebu III who collected 170 yards rushing.
CJ Odom ran for 75 yards and a score while
Zach Bronkhorst connected with
Cason Brown for the other score.

SCOUTING CENTRAL WASHINGTON:
The Wildcats enter the weekend with a 2-1 record, winning their Great Northwest Athletic Conference opener over Simon Fraser 36-14 last week. CWU's one loss on the season game against Division I FCS and Big Sky Conference opponent, Eastern Washington, falling 63-14 against the Eagles. ASU will be the second Lone Star Conference member that Central Washington has faced, opening the year at Eastern New Mexico, winning 66-24.

Central Washington has had an equal attack on offense, rushing for 216 yards per game while passing just 219 yards. The Wildcats rank 35
th in all of Division II in offensive yards while holding the 23
rd highest rushing offense. Rashaad Boddie leads CWU with 331 yards on the season in two games so far, totaling four touchdowns. JJ Lemming is the leading passer for the Wildcats, completing 46 percent of his passes for 497 yards and five touchdowns. Defensively, CWU has given up an average of 423 yards per game, with 171 of those yards coming on the ground, ranking 112
th in Division II in stopping the run.

During the 2019 season, the Wildcats finished the season 7-4 with losses to Division I FCS Idaho, No. 2 ranked Ferris State, and West Texas A&M. They played one game in 2020, dropping to DI FSC Montana 59-3.

POWER IN THE RUN:
The Rams have proven early that they can find success on the ground, averaging 226 yards per game. Omayebu and Odom each have two rushing touchdowns on the season, collecting 109.3 and 90.6 per game respectively. Both rushers are collecting over six yards per carry with Omayebu totaling 328 yards and Odom collecting 272 yards in three games.

The GARVIN PROFILE:
Hagen Garvin appeared in his first game for the Rams last week against Midwestern State. He completed nine passes for 99 yards, tossing a long of 18. He also added 17 yards on the ground. Prior to ASU, Garvin spent time at McMurry, completing 33 passes during the 2019 season, totaling 297 yards and two touchdowns.

SACKING THE COMPETITION:
The Rams' defense has tallied 10 sacks on the season with
Daron Allman leading the way with three sacks. He is tied for second in the Lone Star Conference while
Darrick Dickerson Jr. and
Donavyn Jackson have each collected 1.5 sacks.

CLOSING THE GAPS:
While running the ball has come easy for the Rams, opponents have had a difficult time as ASU is holding the opposition to only 51.7 yards per game on the ground. Their run defense is first in the Lone Star and ranks fifth in Division II and 32
nd among all NCAA divisions.

LEADING OUT WIDE:
Kellen Pachot remains the top receiver for the Rams, tallying 274 receiving yards which is the most of any receiver in the conference. He also ranks 35 in all of Division II in receiving yards.

OFFENSIVE NOTES:
-Bronkhorst has tallied five touchdown passes on the season, adding two more on the ground. He has completed 56 percent of his passes for 600 yards.

Zorhan Rideaux is second on the team in receiving yards with 115 while
Austin Landry has caught seven passes for 72 yards.
-Odom has contributed running the ball and through the air, catching six passes out of the backfield for 68 yards.

Hunter Kyle leads all Rams in total tackles with 20 on the season. Allman is second with 19 followed by
Josh Quinton with 16 and
Leddy French II with 15.
-Allman is first on the squad in tackles for loss (6) followed by Jackson (3.5) and
Andrew Pitts (3).
-The Rams have three forced fumbles on the season, two by Allman and one by Kyle.
-Pitts has the lone interception for the Rams, picking off Lindenwood for a pick six in the first game of the season.
