#3 Belle Volleyball Returns Home for Pair of Conference Matches

SAN ANGELO – The Belle Volleyball team, currently riding a five-match winning streak, including four conference match victories, return to the friendly confines of the Junell Center after a successful two-match road trip to Midwestern State and Cameron last weekend. This weekend will see them host Texas A&M-Kingsville on Friday amd Texas A&M International on Saturday.

The Belles currently sit at 11-2 overall and 4-0 in conference play and they are the third-ranked team in the country in this week's AVCA Division II Poll.

On offense, the Belles rank in the top three in the conference in hitting percentage, assists and kills; defensively, they are also top three in opponent hitting percentage, opponent assists, opponent kills and blocks.

The Belles have three players with 100 or more kills, led by Kailyn Gilbreath's 113 and followed by Delaney Fuller's 111 and Elsa Lamphere's 102 kills. As a team, the Belles are hitting .247 as a team and are averaging 14.14 kills per set and are the only team in the LSC to have three players reach the century mark in kills.

Gilbreath, in addition to leading the team in kills, also leads the team in assists with 326, averaging 7.76 per set. She is the only player in the conference to record over 300 assists and over 100 kills; she has been the conference's player of the week three times this season and is currently on a three-match streak of not committing a single attack error.

Defensively, Baleigh Allen leads the conference with 1.24 blocks per set. She is also only one of five players in the LSC to have ten or more solo blocks and leads the conference with 41 block assists.

SCOUTING THE JAVELINAS
Texas A&M-Kingsville enters this week with an 8-0 overall record and 3-0 record in conference play, with sweeps over Cameron, Midwestern State and Texas A&M International. This is the second time this season the Javelinas will make the trip to San Angelo, having competed in the Kathleen Brasfield Invitational to open the season.

The Javelinas, who are receiving votes in the AVCA Division II Poll, are 4-19 against the Belles since 2006, with the two teams most recently matching up in the LSC Tournament this past spring, where the Belles gave the Javelinas their lone loss of the season.

Jackie Alanis leads the Javelinas attack with 115 kills this season, averaging 3.83 per set and recording a .288 hitting percentage.

Defensively, the Javelinas are buoyed by libero Nicole Murff, who leads the LSC with 5.73 digs per set and is the current LSC Defensive Player of the Week.

SCOUTING THE DUSTDEVILS
Texas A&M International enters this weekend with a 1-9 overall record and a 1-2 record in LSC play, with their lone win coming against Cameron on September 18th. The Belles will be the fourth ranked team the Dustdevils will match up with this season, having faced #7 Central Missouri, #4 Washburn and #15 Colorado School of Mines already.

The Belles are 4-0 against the Dustdevils under head coach Chuck Waddington, with all four wins being 3-0 sweeps. These two teams matched up this past spring as a part of the ASU Invitational, and Gilbreath led all players with 16 kills while libero Chloe Patton recorded 27 digs.

Offensively, the Dustdevils' attack goes through outside hitter Mackenzie Catalina, who is responsible for 31.7 percent of all the Dustdevils kills this season with 136 kills out of the team's 429. Catalina, along with libero Daniela Sandoval, lead the team in digs with 122 for Catalina and 128 for Sandoval.

After this week, the Belles wrap up their three-match homestand with a match next Wednesday against Lubbock Christian.
