SAN ANGELO – The Belles soccer team scored two first-half goals, both in the first twenty minutes of the match, and relied on their airtight defense for the rest of the match to claim another conference victory, a 2-0 final over Texas A&M International.
"I think that we created a bunch of good chances in front of goal," said head coach Travis McCorkle. "Still not getting all of them in but I think we created some good ones."

The Belles forced the issue early, winning three corner kicks in the first 11 minutes. The Belles got on the scoreboard in the 12^th minute through Katelin Heise's long-range effort from outside of the box, her second goal of the season.

The Belles doubled their lead eight minutes later when Grace Jordan tapped in the rebound from a Cindy Rodriguez shot that hit the right post of the goal and fell to the feet of the freshman.

Jordan, the freshman from Fort Worth, also assisted Heise's opening goal and now has five goal contributions this season, fourth-most on the team.

The Dustdevils only recorded three shots of their own against the Belles, with their lone shot on target coming minutes after the second goal, which forced a save from Belles' goalkeeper Kira Miller.

"We need to continue to get a little bit sharper with what we're doing; and if we continue to do that, we'll be where we want to be at the end of the season," said McCorkle. "As long as every game is a little bit better moving forward."

The Belles are now 7-1 on the season and 2-1 in conference play. They are back on the pitch this Saturday in Oklahoma to face Oklahoma Christian.
