WICHITA FALLS, Texas – After postponing their match a day due to weather conditions, the Angelo State women's soccer team dropped their final regular season match of the season 2-0 in Wichita Falls at the hands of the Mustangs, who they will matchup with in the first round of the LSC tournament on Tuesday.
The Rambelles drop to 13-3-2 on the season and now sit 8-3-1 in Lone Star Conference play. The Mustangs improve to 8-8-1 on the season and 5-6-1 in conference play.
90 MINUTE RUNDOWN
- The Rambelles started the game on the front foot, applying the majority of the offensive pressure.
- Reagan Urbany would fire a left footed shot that hit the goal post and ricocheted out in the 16th minute.
- The tides shifted some in the 20th minute as the Midwestern State offense started showing life.
- Lexi Beck opened the scoring for MSU in the 24th minute.
- Urbany and Rodriguez would both register another shot a piece before Kira Miller made her first save in the 35th minute, this bringing her career total to 300.
- The Mustangs would double their advantage in the 38th minute this time courtesy of Isabella Cruz.
- MSU would continue on the attack until the half ended with the home team leading 2-0.
- Urbany would begin the second half with another shop that missed high, this in the 46th minute.
- The teams would battle back and forth for the next 20 minutes or so and the next shot on goal would come courtesy of Madison Maxey who forced a save out of the MSU keeper.
- Maxey would take another shot which hit the post in a similar fashion to Urbany's in the first frame, keeping the Belles off the score sheet.
- Beck, one of the Mustangs goal scorers, would be shown a yellow card in the 78th minute after a persistent infringement foul.
- Mia Czarnecki would have one final opportunity late on a free kick that missed, ending the match 2-0 in favor of the Mustangs.
GAME NOTES
- The Rambelles outshot the Mustangs 13 to eight in the contest, limiting MSU to just one opportunity in the second half.
- The Belles would earn a season high seven corners in the match.
- The two goals scored by MSU tie the season high the Belles have given up in a single match.
