SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Angelo State volleyball team ran into a force in Eastern New Mexico, falling to the Greyhounds in straight sets (26-24, 25-16, 25-14) on Saturday afternoon at Stephens Court in the Junell Center.
With the loss, the Belles move to 10-10 overall on the year and 6-2 in Lone Star Conference play.
ENMU finished with a hitting percentage of .162 in the match, holding the Belles to .056 with 25 errors.
Both teams traded points throughout the first set, never going ahead by more than three points before working to a 20-20 tie. The Greyhounds collected the final three points of the set to take it 26-24.
Three Belles collected five kills on the day in
Sydney Mundkowsky,
Hannah Kinnison, and
Elsa Lamphere.
Laney Dale and Kayle Baer each finished with 12 assists while
Caleigh Enax collected 15 digs on the night.
In the remaining two sets, the Greyhounds started strong, beginning set two with a 10-2 run, and an 11-4 run in set three. Offense continued to be hard to come against ENMU as the Belles dropped only their second match of conference play.
The Belles will be on the road next weekend as they travel to St. Edward's and St. Mary's beginning Oct. 14.
