Las Vegas, N.M. – Coming off the first win of the season, the Angelo State men's basketball team tried to go 2-for-2 on the weekend, and despite going into halftime down seven to Fort Lewis College, the Rams battled back to hold the lead for a good amount of the second half; however, the Skyhawks made a late comeback to claim a 79-70 victory over the Rams.
Trailing by ten after a Skyhawk three opened the second half, the Rams proceeded to go on a 28-10 run to give them an eight-point lead with just over eight minutes remaining in the contest. From that point on, however, the Skyhawks went on a 27-10 run to close the game and secure the victory.
The Rams end the opening weekend 1-1 on the season.
The Rams cooled down from behind the arc compared to yesterday, only converting five of their 20 attempts from deep into makes for a 25 percent shooting percentage.
Reggie Quezada led all players off the bench with a 30-point effort on the offensive end, shooting 11-of-17 from the floor. The New Yorker made three of his five attempts from three and contributed two steals.
Devaughn Thomas and Steve Webb followed with nine points apiece; Thomas grabbed six rebounds, while Webb grabbed eight boards and dished three assists.
The Rams are back in action next weekend as they host Arlington Baptist inside the Junell Center.
