The No. 2 ranked and top-seeded Angelo State football team will begin the second round of the NCAA Division II National Championship on Saturday as the Rams host fourth-seeded Bemidji State in their first game of the tournament.
RAMS END THE REGULAR SEASON PERFECT:
The Rams wrapped up the regular-season two weeks ago, finishing a perfect 11-0 on the season after a 37-19 win over Midwestern State to close out the first undefeated season in the Division II era for Angelo State. Earning the top seed in Super Region 4, the Rams enjoyed a bye week in the opening round of the championship last Saturday.

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS:
- The fourth-seed in Super Region 4, the Beavers hold the top record in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference at 10-2 overall on the year.
- The Beavers advanced to the second round after opening the championship with a 31-7 win over fifth-seeded Winona State last week.
- After starting the season 0-2 with losses to #19 Augustana and three-seed Minnesota State, the Beavers have won 10 straight games leading into Saturday.
- BSU quarterback Brandon Alt is a Harlon Hill candidate, throwing for 3,686 yards and 37 touchdowns this season.
- Bemidji State ranks first overall in the NSIC in scoring, averaging 39.6 points per game which is the 10th-highest average in DII.
- The Beavers are also sixth in the country in total offense with 481.5 yards per game and rank 18th defensively, allowing 276 yards on the other side.
- BSU is one of the top passing teams in the country, tallying 330.4 passing yards per game which is the third-highest total in Division II.
DOMINATING DEFENSIVELY:
The Rams rank third in all of Division II in yards allowed per game at 217 and fourth in points given up at 11.7. ASU is also 18
th in DII in defending the pass and has tallied the fourth most interceptions.
PASSING THE CENTURY MARK:
For the second season in a row,
Nate Omayebu III has run for over 1,000 yards. He has tallied 1,065 yards this season along with seven touchdowns.
LSC POSTSEASON ACCOLADES:
The Rams landed 21 players on the LSC All-Conference teams while earning five special awards as
Jeff Girsch was named Coach of the Year, Omayebu earned his second straight Offensive Back of the Year honor,
Jacob Long and
Weston Bauer were named Offensive and Defensive Lineman of the Year, and
Andrew Pitts earned Defensive Back of the Year.
QUICK HITS:
- The Rams lead the LSC in both offensive yards (427.6) and yards allowed (216.5).
- Zach Bronkhorst is first in the Lone Star in passing yards (2,508), and first in passing touchdowns (21).
- Micah Flowers and Eric Rascoe are the leading tacklers for the Rams, both totaling 61 this season while Daron Allman leads ASU in tackles for loss (12.5) and sacks (7).
- Noah Massey has been the top receiver for the Rams, leading in receptions (39), receiving yards (540), and receiving touchdowns (3).
