SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State men's basketball team doubled their winning streak to two games with a 75-53 victory over Sul Ross State on Saturday night inside Stephens Arena at the Junell Center; despite the lopsided final score line, it was the Lobos who carried a seven-point lead into halftime as they shot 8-for-19 from deep in the first half.
A
Devaughn Thomas layup with 11:48 remaining in the game gave the Rams a 49-48 lead; they would then proceed to rip off a 26-5 run for the rest of the contest to pull away from the Lobos.
Reggie Quezada led the Rams with 21 points and made three of the Rams' five threes on the evening.
Kevon Godwin scored 12 points and grabbed six rebounds in 32 minutes off the bench;
Willie Guy,
Fredelin De La Cruz, and Thomas all scored eight points, with De La Cruz and Thomas grabbing six rebounds.
Steve Webb scored seven points and grabbed seven steals on the defensive end of the floor; the seven steals for the reigning three-time GLVC Defensive Player of the Year is the most for a Ram since Collin Turner grabbed nine steals against Lubbock Christian on March 6, 2020. Webb's seven steals are the most any player in the LSC has recorded in a single game this season.
The Rams improve to 3-1 on the season; they finish off their homestand next weekend when they host Texas A&M-Kingsville and Texas A&M International, which will mark the opening of conference play for the Rams.
