The No. 2 Angelo State football team returns to LeGrand Stadium at 1st Community Credit Union Field for the final regular-season home game as the Rams host Central Washington on Senior Night this Saturday.
 
 
RAMS BLANK THE RED LEAFS:
The Rams made their second trip to the Pacific Northwest this season, defeating Simon Fraser 24-0 in Blaine, Wash. ASU's defense recorded its second shutout this season while holding the Red Leafs to only 55 total yards of offense. Kason Philips led the offense, running for two touchdowns and 111 yards while adding 44 yards receiving.

The Rams and Wildcats have only met one other time with ASU taking the win on the road in 2021 after scoring in the final minute of the game to claim a 14-9 victory.
 
SCOUTING THE WILDCATS:
  • CWU enters the weekend with a 5-3 overall record, including a loss to then-ranked No. 1 Ferris State to start the year.
  • The Wildcats have split their last contests, falling to West Texas A&M 35-16 while beating Texas A&M – Kingsville 23-19 in their most recent game.
  • Central Washington has the third-ranked defense in the Lone Star, holding opponents to 19.1 points per game and 296.8 yards.
  • The Wildcats have tallied 21 sacks this year which is the fourth most in the LSC and have eight interceptions which is good for seventh overall.
  • Tre' Henderson leads in rushing touchdowns (11) and average rushing yards per game (107.5), and is fifth in the LSC in total rushing yards with 645.
  • Daeon Hudson and Brett Accimus lead the Wildcats in total tackles with 64 and 62 respectively.
 
FIRST IN SUPER REGION 4:
The Rams came in as the top-ranked team in the NCAA Division II regional rankings for Super Region 4. Behind them was Colorado School of Mines in second and Winona State in third. Representing the Lone Star Conference was Texas A&M – Kingsville in eighth and CWU in 10th.
 
TOP 5 DEFENSE:
The Rams currently rank second overall in total defense in Division II, holding opponents to an average of 202.3 yards per game. They are fifth in scoring defense, allowing 10.9 points per game, fourth in passing yards allowed (125.3), and are fourth in first down defense at 105 on the season.
 
QUICK HITS:
  • Nate Omayebu III is the leading rusher for the LSC, totaling 901 yards on the season while Philips is eighth with 539 yards.
  • Noah Massey is sixth in the conference in receiving yards with 473 on 33 receptions this season.
  • Daron Allman is tied for first in the Lone Star in tackles for loss with 10.5 on the season including seven sacks which is the second-highest total.
  • ASU's offense leads the LSC with 441.3 yards per game, scoring an average of 33.4 points per game.
  • With a win over the Wildcats on Saturday, the Rams could clinch the outright title for the 2022 LSC season.
