Rambelles Rout Rattlers in Wire-to-Wire Victory

SAN ANTONIO – Playing their final make-up game of the season, the Angelo State women's basketball team ended their three-games-in-five-days stretch with an 89-65 victory over St. Mary's to go 3-0 over the stretch as the Rambelles cross the .500 mark into the green since the end of the 2019-20 season.

Never trailing, the Rambelles shot 53 percent from the field for the game and 43.8 percent from three-point range. The 53 percent is the second-best mark for the Rambelles this season.

Reigning LSC Defensive Player of the Week Madeline Stephens set the tone early with a trio of buckets to give the Rambelles the lead, one they would not concede for the reminder of the game.
Defensively, the Rambelles forced 20 Rattler turnovers, with Sawyer Lloyd grabbing a team-high five steals.

Blakely Gerber led all players with 20 points on 6-of-10 shooting from the floor. The Nazareth native converted two of her four attempts from deep and sank all six of her free throw attempts. Gerber also grabbed a game-high eight rebounds as this marks the third time Gerber has scored 20 or more points.

Stephens added in 16 points on 8-of-12 shooting while teammate Ashlynn Sharp matched her teammate with 16 points off the bench, shooting 6-of-8 from the field and 4-6 from three-point range.

Tayjanna McGhee-Pleasant contributed 14 points in 20 minutes on the floor. Lloyd, in addition to the five steals, chipped in nine points, six rebounds and seven assists while Payton Brown scored eight points.

The Rambelles are now at 12-11 on the season and 9-3 in conference play, The Rambelles only sit a half-game out of first place in the standings with four games left to play and are tied for a first-round
bye in the LSC Tournament. One year after only winning one game, the Rambelles, under the direction of head coach Alesha Ellis, have clinched a spot in the LSC Tournament.

 The Rambelles are in action this weekend on the road to face UAFS and Oklahoma Christian.
