Double-Doubles from Gerber, Brown Lead Rambelles Past Eagles

Oklahoma City, Okla. – The Angelo State women's basketball team played their final road game of the regular season on Saturday in a tight, back-and-forth affair between the Rambelles and host Oklahoma Christian. The Rambelles would outscore the Eagles 23-14 in the final frame to claim an 84-73 victory in a game that saw 12 lead changes between the two squads.

The win brings the Rambelles' winning streak to five games, their longest since March 9th, 2019, when they won six in a row.

The Rambelles out-rebounded the Eagles 46-38 and grabbed 16 offensive rebounds for 16 second-chance points. The Rambelles also outscored the hosts in points in the paint (40 to 32) and points off turnovers (19 to 14).

Blakely Gerber notched her first-career double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Gerber shot 6-of-9 from the free throw line and also assisted five times.

Joining Gerber with a double-double was her point guard Payton Brown. The Lubbock native scored 16 points, making a trio of threes, and grabbing 10 rebounds. The Wayland Baptist transfer also assisted six times and nabbed two steals on the defensive end.

Sawyer Lloyd flirted with a triple-double, scoring 20 points, grabbing seven rebounds and assisting eight times; Tayjanna McGhee-Pleasant scored 16 points and grabbed six rebounds in 26 minutes of action.

Samantha Rocha added seven points off the bench and Madeline Stephens chipped in four points and six rebounds.

Oklahoma Christian's Brooklin Bain recorded a double-double of her own with 21 points and 10 rebounds.

The Rambelles are now 14-11 on the season and 11-3 in conference play; with two games remaining on the season, they sit in third place in the LSC standings. They are back inside the Junell Center this weekend to face #7 Texas A&M-Commerce on Thursday before hosting UT Tyler on Saturday.
