Durant, Okla. – The Angelo State women's tennis team won their second match in the Sooner State in as many days, claiming a 5-2 victory over Southeastern Oklahoma State on Monday afternoon in Durant.
The Belles clinched the doubles' point with 6-3 wins at lines one and two through the pairings of
Valentina Gonzalez/
Ena Ovcina and
Ramitha Irrinki/
Ayda Guler.
In singles play, Gonzalez was the lone Belle to win her match in straight sets, with the other five requiring the full three sets of play.
Gonzalez, the first singles player to finish, preceded Savage Storm wins at lines four and five to tie the match at 2-all; however, wins by Ovcina, Irrinki and
Dianela Rodriguez gave the Belles the win, with Irrinki's win being the decisive fourth point for the nation's 20
th-ranked team.
The Belles are now on a five-match winning streak and improve to 5-1 on the season. They are next in action on Thursday for their home opener, as well as their LSC opener, hosting UTPB, with that match starting at 3 p.m.
