No. 5 Rams Split Series Against UT Tyler with Win in Game Four

SAN ANGELO, Texas – The fifth-ranked Angelo State baseball team came back to win the final game of the four-game series against UT Tyler, defeating the Patriots 5-4 on Monday afternoon at Foster Field at 1st Community Credit Union Stadium.
 
With the win, the Rams improve to 2-2 overall, 2-2 in Lone Star Conference play while the Patriots move to 2-2, 2-2 LSC.
 
The Patriots took an early lead against the Rams, scoring four runs in the first two innings, capped off by a two-RBI triple in the second.
 
After three scoreless innings, the Rams got things going at the plate as Kamden Kelton singled and stole second before coming around to score on a wild pitch for the first run. ASU added another as Jordan Williams singled to bring home Austin Beck to cut the lead to 4-2.
 
 In the fifth inning, Justin Lee came in as a pinch hitter, singling to up the middle to lead off. After a double by Hunter Townsend, Lee scored on a sac fly by Thomas Cain.
 
Cody Kingman started on the mound for the Rams, throwing four innings of work, giving up four runs of four hits with two strikeouts. Picking up the win was Price Siemering who held the Patriots scoreless through five innings, allowing only three hits with a walk and a strikeout.
 
The Rams tied the game in the bottom of the sixth inning as Williams was hit by a pitch to get on base before a single by Lee brought him in for the tying run.
 
With one out in the seventh inning, the Rams took the lead as Beck hit his first career home run, a solo shot to right field to go up 5-4.
 
With one out and two runners on the bases in the top of the ninth, Kelton caught a line drive before turning a double play to seal the victory.
 
Williams, Beck, and Lee all finished with two hits and an RBI in the game while Townsend added two more hits on the day.
 
The Rams will continue conference play next weekend as they head to UAFS for a four-game series beginning Friday, Feb. 11.
