No.17 Rams Sweep Drury with Walk-Off Win in Game Two

SAN ANGELO, Texas – The 17th-ranked Angelo State baseball team completed the two-game sweep over Drury on Sunday, defeating the Panthers 7-6 after a walk-off hit at Foster Field at 1st Community Credit Union Stadium.
 
The win improves the Rams to 17-5 overall while the Panthers move to 13-4.
 
The Rams came out to a quick 2-0 lead in the first inning as Justin Lee hit a deep fly ball to center field to score Jackson Hardy who tagged from third after getting a leadoff single. ASU added another run off a wild pitch as Koby Kelton came around to score.
 
Drury didn't trail long, tying the game in the very next winning after scoring on a wild pitch and a single up the middle with two outs in the inning.
 
In the bottom of the third inning, the Rams found two more runs as Aaron Walters hit a single to score Lee before Kamden Kelton hit a sac-fly to right field to bring home Austin Beck, giving ASU a 4-2 advantage.
 
Jake Rogers started on the mound for ASU in a planned three-inning appearance. He finished with two runs off of five hits.
 
Both teams traded off runs in the fourth inning before the Panthers closed the gap in the top of the fifth, hitting a solo home run to make it 5-4 in favor of the Rams. Walters answered back in the bottom half of the inning, hitting a solo homer of his own to center field.
 
The Panthers hit a solo home run in both the seventh and eighth innings to tie the game at 6-6 heading into the ninth.
 
Aaron Munson and Carson Childers both pitched three innings of relief as scheduled. Munson tallied five strikeouts while allowing two runs off of three hits. Childers earned the decision, allowing two runs and three hits.
 
Kamden Kelton led off the ninth with a single before advancing to third on a hit by Thomas Cain. Tyler Boggs drove in the game-winning run, hitting a single to left field to bring home Kelton.
 
The Rams return to Lone Star Conference play next weekend as they travel to Texas A&M International for a four-game series beginning Friday, Mar. 18.
