SAN ANGELO, Texas – The 14th-ranked Angelo State baseball team completed the series sweep over Cameron on Sunday, defeating the Aggies 11-2 in game four of the series at Foster Field at 1st Community Credit Union Stadium.
With the win, the Rams improve to 36-10 overall on the year, going to 34-10 in Lone Star Conference play.
The Rams jumped out in front in the final game of the series, scoring five runs in the bottom of the first inning. Koby Kelton brought in the first run with a single to center field to score Austin Beck, while Jordan Williams and Tayten Tredaway hit a sac-fly for two more runs. Thomas Cain capped off the inning with a two-run shot over the left-field fence to give ASU a 5-0 lead.
The Aggies answered in the top of the second, hitting a home run of their own, this time a two-run shot to center field to cut the lead to three runs.
Both pitchers settled in after that with both teams scoreless through the next four innings.
Carson Childers started on the mound for the Rams, throwing seven innings with only two earned runs off five hits while striking out eight batters. He improves to 5-1 overall on the season.
In the bottom of the seventh, Justin Lee added another run for the Rams, hitting a double down the right-field line to score Kelton. Williams followed up with a single to center field to advance Lee before coming around to score on an error to extend ASU's lead to 7-2.
ASU added four more runs in the eighth, scoring two runs on wild pitches, one run on an error, and another on a single by Lee.
Price Siemering and Jackson Haga each pitched one inning in relief without a hit to close out the game.
The Rams will close out the regular season next weekend on the road as they travel to UT Permian Basin for a four-game series beginning Friday, April 29.
