Fort Smith, Ark. – The Angelo State women's tennis team picked up their second win in as many days in the Natural State with a 7-0 sweep of UAFS this afternoon in a match that saw all nine Belles compete.
With the win, the Belles improve to 12-5 overall and 4-1 in conference play; they are also 5-1 this season in matches in Arkansas.
Ayda Guler and
Ramitha Irrinki won their match at line two, 6-0, in less than 20 minutes; wins followed by
Mieke Van Deventer and
Ena Ovcina at line one, as well as
Valentina Gonzalez and
Esther Bowers at line three.
Eva Schwartz tallied the first singles win for the Belles at line four, winning 6-3, 6-0 in just under an hour of action.
Four of the six singles matches were decided in straight sets, with two more including a tiebreaker. For the second match in a row,
Dianela Rodriguez clinched the match for the Belles at line one.
The Belles are back in action tomorrow against sixth-ranked Cameron, with that match starting at 2 p.m.
