#11 Rambelles Pick Up Non-Conference Win over Texas A&M International

Laredo, Texas – In their final non-conference regular-season game, the Angelo State softball team completed the series sweep and season sweep over Texas A&M International on Saturday, winning 7-2.

The Rambelles won all six of their meetings against the Dustdevils this season.

Paxton Scheurer started the scoring in the first inning with her 21st home run this season, a solo shot to put the Rambelles on the board.

Keilei Garcia would collect her third RBI single in as many games to double the lead in the opening inning.

Pitches hit Bailey Martinez and Mykayla Stroud to start the second inning, with Ashlyn Lerma following with an infield single to load the bases.

A Scheurer sacrifice fly would drive a run in, with another run scoring later in the inning on an RBI groundout. The two RBIs today bring the third baseman up to 66 RBIs this season, tied for fourth-most in a single season in the program's history.

The Rambelles would conjure a two-out rally in the third inning, with Maleya Burns being plunked by a pitch and stealing second base, scoring on a Martinez RBI single.

Stroud, the next batter, cleared the bases with her third home run of the season to make it 7-0.

The Dustdevils would score a run in the third and sixth innings, bringing the score to 7-2, the eventual final score.

Making her first collegiate start inside the circle, freshman Ashton McMillan earned her third win this season. The San Angelo native allowed five hits and one run while striking out three in five innings.
Fellow freshman Sierra Schottler pitched in relief for the final two innings, allowing two hits and one run.

The Rambelles improve to 32-7 overall on the season and are in action tomorrow against No. 7 Texas A&M-Kingsville, who is coming off a split against Lubbock Christian.
