#13 Belles Cap off Kathleen Brasfield with Pair of Sweeps

Dale, Lamphere, Mundkowsky named to all-tournament team

SAN ANGELO – Looking to bounce back from their first loss since 2014 in the Kathleen Brasfield Invitational, the Angelo State volleyball team ended their weekend on two high notes, sweeping New Mexico Highlands in the afternoon before capping off the tournament with a sweep of East Central.

The Belles match against the Cowgirls saw the Belles open with a .500 hitting percentage in the first set – converting 16 kills and only committing two errors as they claimed the set 25-14.

Seven of the Belles' 11 blocks came in the second set, where they were able to hold Highlands to a negative hitting percentage, while the third and final set featured three separate 4-0 or more scoring runs for the hosts.

11 different Belles recorded kills, led by freshman Kaila Garnett's eight. Sydney Mundkowsky added in six kills and Marina Sanchez and Elsa Lamphere each recorded five, with Sanchez hitting .556 and not committing an attacking error.

Laney Dale recorded a game-high 17 assists while Katy Motz followed closely behind with 15 assists, and libero Caleigh Enax led all players with 15 digs.

Eight different Belles contributed to a block, led by Grace White's six block assists and Sanchez's five.

The Belles opened with a .333 hitting percentage in the opening frame; frames two and three saw them hold the Tigers to a negative attack percentage in both sets, with the Tigers only hitting .037 for the match.

Kinnison led all players with 13 kills while Lamphere recorded her third double-double of the season with ten kills and a game-high 15 digs.

White and Sanchez paved the way once again as the Belles recorded 13 blocks as a team, with White notching seven block assists and Sanchez tallying six.

Enax recorded ten digs as well as three service aces, and Dale assisted 24 times, nearly eclipsing the Tigers' 27 on her own.

Dale led all players at the KBI this weekend with 84 assists while Enax recorded a weekend-high six service aces. White and Sanchez were first and second for total blocks, and Lamphere was the highest point scorer of the weekend.

An all-tournament team was named this weekend, with Dale, Lamphere and Mundkowsky all earning plaudits for their play this weekend for the Belles.
