Denver, Colo. – The Angelo State volleyball team wrapped up their week in Colorado with two more matches against ranked opposition, falling to No. 18 Lewis before nearly completing the upset of No. 11 Central Missouri before eventually falling to the Jennies in five sets.
Against the Flyers, the Belles hit .150 as a team, recording 35 kills.
Sam Rodgers led the team with seven kills, only committing one error as she hit .316 for the match.
Hannah Kinnison and
Grace White followed right behind with six and five kills, respectively.
Laney Dale led with 15 assists, while
Caleigh Enax contributed 12 digs.
The Belles' final match of the weekend saw them turn in their best performance at the Colorado Premier Challenge against Central Missouri.
The Belles recorded the final four points in the first set to claim it 26-24, with kills by
Kaila Garnett and
Sydney Mundkowsky accompanying a pair of Jennies errors.
The 11
th-ranked team in the country would take sets two and three before the Belles took set four by a 32-30 score line, with the Belles coming back from 30-29 to score the final three points and claim the set.
The Belles jumped to a 5-1 lead in the final set, but the Jennies took the set and the match with an 8-2 run at the end to claim victory.
Kinnison led all players with a career-high 21 kills, recording a double-double by contributing 18 digs on defense.
Sydney Mundkowsky added in a career-high 15 kills while Rodgers and Garnett followed with 13 and 12, respectively.
Laney Dale assisted a career-best 33 times, while freshman
Kayla Baer recorded 25 assists off the bench, a collegiate-best for the freshman.
Enax added in a team-high 19 digs while also assisting ten times.
Five Belles were in double digits in digs, as the team recorded 80 digs, the most in a match since last season's finale against MSU Denver. As a result, five Belles recorded double-doubles in a single match, with Kinnison, Rodgers, Dale, Baer, and Enax all reaching double figures in multiple statistical categories.
The 72 kills in the match for the Belles is their most in a single match since they notched 80 kills against UTPB back on October 19, 2019.
The Belles are 3-6 on the season and are back home next weekend to host the LSC Crossover, where they will face West Texas A&M, UT Tyler, and Lubbock Christian.
