Belles Earn Hard Fought 1-0 Victory Over Lubbock Christian

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Angelo State women's soccer team got its first win on the road to extend its undefeated streak to five with a 1-0 victory over Lubbock Christian on Wednesday evening in Lubbock.

The Rambelles improve to 6-6-4 overall and 5-2-3 in Lone Star Conference play following the victory. The Lady Chaps fall to 7-5-3 overall and 4-4-1 in LSC Action.

Mia Czarnecki would register the first shot of the contest in the fourth minute, forcing an early save from Kara Murray, the Lady Chaps keeper.

In the first half, the Lady Chaps would have four shots, all resulting in a save by Rambelles goalkeeper Amber Lockwood. The Ramebelles would outshoot the Lady Chaps five to four, with the best chance coming from Katelin Heise in the 44th minute with a shot that was saved in the top right corner of the goal.

In the second half, the Rambelles would come out of the half cold, not recording their first shot of the half until the 67th minute when Sanai Stewart would get a hold of one that would go over the goal.

In the 74th-minute, build-up play by Katelin Heise in the midfield led to the through ball by Madison Maxey down the right flank to an awaiting Sanai Stewart that chipped it over the goalkeeper to give the rambles a 1-0 lead going into the last 15 minutes of the game.

Amber Lockwood would complete her fifth shutout, the team's sixth of the season and fourth in the last five games.

From Head Coach Travis McCorkle: "I think the stats are accurate with the game being close, the first half was ruff being on the artificial turf I thought we struggled with it in the first half second half we did better and created better chances. I thought Lubbock Christian had good chances, our defense was able to be there to stop them. Im happy with Sanai Stewart getting her first goal. I liked how she anticipated the through ball by Maxey and what a finish by her with her shot over the goalkeeper to give us the win."
