The Rams Down West Texas A&M 27-10 on the Road

CANYON, Texas – The Angelo State football team earned a decisive road victory, defeating West Texas A&M 27-10 on Saturday night at Buffalo Stadium.
 
With the win, the Rams improve to 5-3 overall on the season and 4-2 in Lone Star Conference play.
 
The Rams scored first as Alfred Grear took a handoff up the middle before breaking away on a 49-yard touchdown run to give ASU the early lead.
 
Towards the end of the first quarter, the Buffs got on the board with a 40-yard field goal to make it 7-3.
 
The Rams added to their lead in the second quarter when Gerald Gardner found Kason Philips on a touchdown pass to the corner of the endzone from seven yards out.
 
ASU took a 14-3 lead into the break, totaling 284 offensive yards in the first half while allowing only 50 yards by the Buffs.
 
Midway through the third quarter, Bradley Larson converted a 26-yard field goal attempt to extend ASU's lead. Later in the quarter, Chad Pharies rushed 19 yards up the middle for a score to make it 24-3.
 
The Rams had four rushers with over 60 yards in the game with Philips leading with 115 yards on eight carries followed by Jayden Jones with 90 yards.
 
Larson converted his second field goal of the game in the fourth quarter, making it from 25 yards out.
 
The Buffs scored their only touchdown of the game with under a minute to play, breaking away on a 71-yard run.
 
Angelo State totaled 513 yards of total offense in the game, including 396 yards on the ground while holding the Buffs to 221 yards of offense.
 
Leading ASU in tackles was Josh Booker-Brown who finished with seven total tackles followed by Eric Rascoe with six while Andrew Pitts and Kason McCullough-Cooper each recorded an interception.
 
The Rams are back home next weekend as they host Midwestern State on Saturday, Nov. 4.
