SAN ANGELO, Texas – The third-ranked Angelo State baseball team dropped game one of the series against St. Mary's on Friday afternoon, falling to the Rattlers 10-3 at Foster Field at 1
st Community Credit Union Stadium.
With the loss, the Rams move to 23-4 overall and 21-4 in Lone Star Conference play.
Jacob Guerrero grounded out in the first inning, scoring
Reese Johnson on the play for the first run of the game.
The Rattlers tied the game in the third on an RBI triple before putting across eight runs in the fourth to make the difference in the game.
Aaron Munson started on the mound for the Rams, throwing three 1/3 innings with six runs off seven hits while
Jackson Berry tossed three innings of relief, allowing one run on two hits.
The Rams tallied two runs in the sixth as
Tripp Clark homered to left field before
Rance Rosas singled to score
Jordan Williams, making it 9-3 in favor of StMU.
Jackson Haga closed out the game on the mound for ASU, throwing two 2/3 innings while only allowing one hit with three punchouts.
The Rams continue the series against the Rattlers tomorrow afternoon with a doubleheader scheduled for 2 p.m.
