SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State softball team experienced both ends of the run-rule spectrum on Saturday afternoon at Mayer Field, winning game one 8-0 in six innings before the Rattlers rebounded to take game two 13-0 in five innings in game two.
Game one remained scoreless until the fifth inning, when the Rambelles would strike for four runs.
Ashton Dirner led the frame off with a single before stealing second base; she would advance to third on a groundout before
Ashlyn Lerma would draw a walk and steal second base to put two runners in scoring position.
The next batter,
Ashton McMillan, would double down the left-field line to drive in both runners and put the Rambelles ahead.
Paxton Scheurer would homer over the left-center fence to double the Rambelles' lead and make the score 4-0.
Dirner and
Katie Burris led the sixth inning off with back-to-back singles, and
Layni Tanner drew a walk to load the bases.
Two runners would score on a Rattler error, and another would cross the plate on a wild plate; Scheurer's sacrifice fly would drive in the final run to give the Rambelles a run-rule victory.
Genesis Armendariz dazzled inside the circle en route to her 13
th win of the season. The junior only surrendered a single hit and three walks while striking out a pair of Rattlers.
Game two saw the Rattlers strike for two runs in the top of the first inning, courtesy of an inside-the-park home run; the score remained 2-0 until the fourth inning when the visitors tacked on five runs before they would push across an additional six runs in the fifth inning.

Victoria Mosqueda saw the Bosqueville native break up Catalina Cavazos' perfect game bid.
The Rambelles are now 22-15 on the season and 14-12 in conference play; the Rambelles and the Rattlers close the series tomorrow at 1 p.m.
