SAN ANGELO, Texas – The No. 22-ranked Angelo State women's tennis team will spend the weekend in San Antonio, facing St. Mary's on Saturday at 12 p.m. before playing in a nonconference match against Our Lady of the Lake on Sunday at 10 a.m.
So far on the season, the Rambelles are 12-3 with a 4-1 conference record, and are currently ranked second in the conference.
Dianela Rodriguez, who was named Lone Star Conference Player of the Week, is currently ranked No. 42 in the nation, and has a seven-match winning streak in singles.
Letizia Corsini, who is ranked No. 55 in Division II, is 11-3 in singles for the season with a 3-0 record in line one.
Mieke Van Deventer is currently undefeated in singles with a 3-0 record with wins in lines five and six as well as a 4-2 doubles record with her partner
Eva Schwartz. Another Belle having success this season is
Ramitha Irrinki with a 12-1 record in singles.
The Rambelles have played the Rattlers five times in program history, winning one match at home but falling short in the other four. In the last match, Rodriguez won line two to score a point for the Belles. The other two Belles points in the 4-3 match came from
Ayda Guler in line five and
Ramitha Irrinki in line six. The Rattlers have a 15-3 season record so far, with a 3-1 conference record. The Rattlers are on a seven-match winning streak and are ranked third in the conference following behind the Belles.
This weekend will be the first matchup between the Belles and the Saints. The Saints are currently 4-16 so far this season.
