SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Angelo State women's tennis team hits the road this weekend to play a pair of conference matches against UAFS on Thursday afternoon at 2 p.m., and Cameron on Saturday at 1 p.m.
The Belles have only played the Lions twice in program history and hold a 2-0 record, winning 7-0 in both contests.
The Lions are currently 1-5 on the season and have lost their last four matches by five or more points. Their one win of the season came back in February, defeating University of the Ozarks 7-2.
In the last match against the Lions,
Ayda Guler and Ramitha Irrkinki won their doubles line 6-0. With the Belles winning every singles match in the dual, a few returners have already seen some action from the Lions.
Dianela Rodriguez won the line one position 6-3, 6-2 while Eva Schwarts earned a line four win with a score 6-3, 6-0.
The Belles have had five match ups against the Aggies since 2018, three of those matches being away and two of them being home. The Belles have four wins against the Aggies only losing to them in their most recent match, 4-1. In the last match, Irrinki secured the only points for ASU, winning her match in line six 6-4, 4-6, 6-1.
Angelo State women's tennis is currently 8-1 on the season with a 1-0 record in the Lone Star Conference. The Belles are also on a six-match win streak while Irrkini is still undefeated in singles at 7-0. Behind her is
