SILVER CITY, N.M. – The Angelo State softball team tallied a series victory over Western New Mexico, winning game three 6-0 on Saturday afternoon.
With the victory, the Rambelles improve to 24-17 overall and 16-14 in Lone Star Conference play.
ASU jumped out ahead in the first inning as
Keilei Garcia doubled with the bases loaded, scoring three runs for the early advantage.
The Rambelles added another run in the third inning as
Bailey Martinez hit a solo home run to center field to make it 4-0 in favor of ASU.
Cheyenne Floyd started in the circle for ASU, tossing six innings while allowing only two hits and a walk while striking out six batters. She improves to 6-4 overall on the year.
In the fourth inning,
Lindsey Evans collected an RBI on a single to left center, scoring
Ashlyn Lerma on the play.
The Rambelles tallied four more runs in the seventh as
Ashton McMillan started the inning with a solo homer to center field.
Tatiana Trotter brought in a run on a double to center before Lerma tallied two RBIs on a single.
WNMU tallied its only runs of the game in the bottom of the seventh, tallying two runs on a double before back-to-back singles added two more to make it 9-4.
The Rambelles will return home next weekend as they host St. Edward's in a three-game conference series beginning on Thursday, Apr. 6.
