Arlington, Texas- The #4 Angelo State women's tennis team upset the #1 Cameron Aggies 4-3 in the semifinals of the Lone Star Conference Tournament on Friday afternoon at the Arlington Tennis Center.
The Belles took an early 1-0 lead over the Aggies after securing the doubles point.
Letizia Corsini and
Dianela Rodriguez won line three quickly with a score of 6-0 while
Eva Schwartz and
Mieke Van Deventer won line two 7-6 with a 7-4 tiebreaker to win the doubles point after a long fight.
Christine Jevicky was the first to score a point for the Belles in singles play after winning line four in a quick 6-0, 6-2 match. The Belles were tied 2-2 with Cameron after line five and six wins by the Aggies.
Eva Schwartz put the Belles ahead of Cameron when she won line three 7-6, 6-0 to make the match score 3-2. Rodriguez was the last to finish her match, taking the top position 7-5, 6-4 to end the match and give the Belles the 4-3 victory.
The Belles will continue on in the LSC tournament to the title match against St. Mary's tomorrow at 1 pm.
