SAN ANGELO, Texas – The top-ranked Angelo State baseball team split its doubleheader against Texas A&M International on Friday, winning 4-0 before falling 2-1 at Foster Field at 1
st Community Credit Union Stadium.
With the results, the Rams move to 32-5 overall on the year and 30-5 in Lone Star Conference play.
GAME ONE: ASU 4, TAMIU 0
Kade Bragg pitched another outstanding performance for the Rams, throwing a six-inning shutout with only two hits and seven strikeouts. With the win, he is now 9-0 on the season.
The Rams scored all four of their runs in the fifth inning, with the first coming on a throwing error while
Jordan Williams singled for an RBI and
Thomas Cain reached on a fielder's choice, scoring two on the play.
Mason Bryant tossed one inning of relief, allowing one hit with two strikeouts.
GAME TWO: TAMIU 2, ASU 1
In game two of the day, ASU struck first as Cain doubled to left field to score
Tripp Clark for an early 1-0 lead.
Braxton Pearson started on the mound for ASU, tossing four innings of work with one run off two hits and six strikeouts. Earning the loss was
Austin Teel, who gave up one run with three walks as he moves to 1-1 on the year.
The Dustdevils tied the game in the fourth inning after an error before scoring the game-winning run in the fifth on a sac bunt.
ASU and TAMIU close out the series tomorrow with game four at 1 p.m.
