SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The 15
th-ranked Angelo State women's tennis fell 4-1 on Monday in the South Central Regional tournament against No. 16 St. Mary's in San Antonio.
The season comes to a close for the Belles who finished the year with a 19-6 overall record, going 8-2 in conference play.
The Belles started the match by picking up the doubles point as
Eva Schwartz and
Mieke Van Deventer won their match 6-1 at line two while
Dianela Rodriguez and
Christine Jevicky tallied a 6-2 win at position three.
StMU took the lead in singles play with a 6-2, 6-0 win at line one and a 6-2, 6-3 win at line two before closing out the match with the final two points in singles play.
Ramitha Irrinki and Van Deventer both picked up set one wins in their respective matches before going unfinished.
The Belles end the season after having the most successful runs in the Lone Star Conference Tournament, reaching the championship match for the first time.
