Top-seeded Rams Defeat ENMU 11-0 to Open the LSC Tournament

SAN ANGELO, Texas – The second-ranked and top-seeded Angelo State baseball team started the opening round of the Lone Star Conference Tournament with a victory, downing eighth-seeded Eastern New Mexico 11-0 in seven innings on Friday night at Foster Field at 1st Community Credit Union Stadium.

The Rams improve to 43-8 overall on the year and are now one win away from advancing to the next round of the conference tournament.

The Rams jumped ahead in the first inning as Austin Beck hit an infield single on a bunt, scoring Thomas Cain for an early 1-0 lead.

ASU added to the lead in the third inning as Jacob Guerrero hit a two-run homer over the left field wall to extend the lead to 3-0.

Aaron Munson started on the mound for Angelo State, tossing four innings of work with no runs while giving up four hits with four strikeouts. He earned the win to improve to 6-2 overall on the year.

Beck collected a couple more RBIs, bringing in two more runs in the fifth on a double down the left-field line.

The scoring continued for the Rams in the sixth as Guerrero hit a double down the left-field line to score Cain and Tyler Boggs. Jordan Williams added a run on an RBI single while Reese Johnson hit a sac fly to score Tripp Clark. Kamden Kelton finished off the inning with a two-RBI single to give the Rams an 11-0 lead.

Kade Bragg picked up the save, throwing three innings of relief without allowing a hit and striking out five batters.

The Rams and the Greyhounds will continue the best-of-three series tomorrow, playing game two at 4 p.m.
