Angelo State Soccer Opens Up The Season With Two Home Games

SAN ANGELO, Texas - The Angelo State women's soccer team is starting in the 2023 season this week with two home games against Central Oklahoma on Thursday and East Central on Saturday at the ASU Soccer Complex.

  • ASU opens the season against Central Oklahoma for the first time since 2017.
  • The Belles have won seven straight games on opening day, dating back to the 2015 season where they drew with Adams State.
  • Senior Katelin Heise and Graduate Student Mia Czarnecki were named captains for the 2023 season.
  • Katelin Heise is among the offensive players to watch in the LSC, while Harper Saxon is among the defensive players to watch in the LSC.
  • Head Coach Travis McCorkle enters his 16 season at the helm of the Belles program.
  • Assistant Coach Harold Munoz enters his seventh season with the Belles, Avery McNeme enters her second year as a graduate assistant, and Kira Miller enters the coaching ranks as a first year graduate assistant after spending five years on the pitch for the Rambelles.

ANGELO STATE VS EAST CENTRAL 
  • The Belles hold the series advantage over East Central 10-4-3.
  • The last time the teams met was in 2021 in Ada, Okla. where the Belles came out on top 3-1 with goals by Shaelyn Ward, Gabby Villagrand, and Avery McNeme.
  • Abbie Morris returns for the Tigers after being tied for the team lead in goals last season with five.
  • East Central finished fifth in the GAC going 3-10-5 overall and 1-4-2 in conference play.
