The 22^nd-ranked Angelo State football team returns home as the Rams continue Lone Star Conference play against Western New Mexico.
 
LAST TIME OUT: The comeback bid fell short for the Rams as they fell to Central Washington 27-24 in their longest road trip of the season. ASU scored 14 unanswered points in the final nine minutes of the game before a blocked field goal sealed the game for the Wildcats.

The Rams are 5-1 against the Mustangs, winning the last four straight meetings. ASU earned a 52-13 win on the road last season. The Rams are averaging 42.5 points per game against Western New Mexico, earning their largest margin of victory, 62-3, during the 2021 season in a home contest.
 
SCOUTING THE MUSTANGS:

• The Mustangs enter the weekend with a 1-2 overall record, going 0-1 in conference play.
• WNMU opened the season with a 42-28 win over Sol Ross State.
• The Mustangs dropped a close nonconference game to New Mexico Highlands, 48-42 before falling to Texas A&M – Kingsville 30-9 in their first LSC game.
• The Mustangs are averaging 31 points per game which ranks third in the conference but they have allowed the most points at 35.3.
• WNMU's offense is averaging 428.3 yards per game under Head Coach Billy Hickman in his first season.

Against the Wildcats, Zorhan Rideaux racked up 182 receiving yards on seven catches with a touchdown. His total receiving yards is the ninth most yards a Ram has collected in a single game in program history.

-The Rams are averaging 27.7 points per game which ranks fourth overall in the LSC.
-Averaging 406 yards of offense per game, the Rams rank third in the conference.
-Defensively, the Rams are allowing the third-fewest yards in the LSC at 277.3.

OPENING SEASON DUB:
The Rams scored 28 unanswered points against West Alabama to open the season with a 38-14 win over the Tigers.
 
LSC FAVORITES:
After finishing the 2022 LSC season undefeated, the Rams were selected as the favorites to repeat in 2023, earning the top spot in the conference preseason coaches' poll.
