Women's Tennis Will Burrow, Assistant Director of Athletic Communications

Rambelles Tennis Concludes Competition at ITA South Central Regionals

ARLINGTON, Texas - The Angelo State women's tennis team competed in the ITA South Central Regional, picking up several victories at the Arlington Tennis Center.
 
Singles:
Eva Schwartz won her first match against Texas A&M - Kingsville 6-2, 6-3. Schwartz continued to the round of 32 to take on Lubbock Christian, winning 6-4,7-6, taking the tiebreaker 7-5 before falling in the quarterfinals, 6-2, 6-0.
 
Christine Jevicky won two matches, defeating UT Permian Basin 6-3, 6-1 to advance to the round of 32 to take on Texas A&M - Kingsville, winning 7-6 with a 7-4 tiebreaker, loosing set two 6-1 and securing the match in a 10-4 tiebreaker before walling in the round of 16, 6-2, 6-3.
 
Letizia Corsini took on Midwestern State in the first match, winning 6-1, 6-1. In the round of 32, she dropped a tightly contested matchup, falling 6-2 in set one, winning 6-4 in the second set and losing on an 11-9 tie-breaker.
 
Doubles:
The Pairing of Christine Jevicky and Letizia Corsini lost in the first match of the day to UT Tyler 8-4, forcing them to the back draw, where they went on a run, defeating Lubbock Christian 8-4, Western New Mexico, 8-1, before advancing to the semi-finals where they took on Dallas Baptist winning the match 9-8 on a 7-5 tie breaker to advance to the 3rd-4th place match vs Midwestern State tomorrow at 1 pm.
 
The pairing of Ayda Guler and Avery Durham won three matches of the day before falling in the semi-finals. They took on UT-Permian Basin in the first match, winning 8-5. Then, they continued on to the round of 32 to take on Midwestern State, winning 9-7. In the quarterfinals, they took on Cameron, recording an 8-5 victory, before falling in the semi-finals, winning the first set 6-4, losing the second set 6-1, then falling short on the tiebreaker 10-8.
 
The double pairings of Mieke Van Deventer and Eva Schwartz won their first match vs. Midwestern State 9-7. The pairing continued to the round of 16 to take on the host Dallas Baptist, winning 9-8, taking the tiebreaker 7-0, before falling in the quarterfinals, 8-2.
