Rambelles Edge Dustdevils 2-0 in Physical Contest

SAN ANGELO, Texas - The Angelo State women's soccer team recorded it's third win of the year defeating Texas A&M International, 2-0.

The Rambelles improve to 3-5-1 on the season and 2-1-0 in Lone Star Conference play. TAMIU falls to 2-2-3 overall and 0-1-1 in the LSC.

The Belles came out firing within the first 20 minutes of action the Belles were able to get off seven shots, three of them being saved by the goalkeeper Fabiana Solano.

In the 62nd minute, the Rambelles got on the score sheet thanks to a goal from Abigail Gutierrez outside the box, assisted by Abby James.

In the 75th minute, Shaelyn Ward would get a tap-in to put the Belles up 2-0. Brianna Rodriguez assisted the goal.

After the Belles got on the score sheet, it became a physical game when, in the 66th minute, Blanca Osorio of TAMIU got booked with a yellow card. In the 84th minute, three more yellow cards would be handed out  one for each coach and one for Neleh Coleman.

Amber Lockwood would record her second consecutive clean sheet and third at home this season.

The Belles would lead in shots with 16 and nine of them being on goal compared to the Dustdevils 10 shots and six being on goal, which all came in the second half.

From Head Coach Travis McCorkle: "I think the game played out like we expected it to. We played this team several times. They have a certain style, and that is their style. If you watch the game, you can see what that is. I was really pleased with the girls; they did a good job again. We bent again with some issues, and Amber made some good saves. Heise saved one from going over the line, so that aspect was good. We are continually progressing to get better. Today, we got two goals. I think we should have had a third. I'm pleased overall, with better possession in the midfield and being more clinical in the box, we will get closer to where we want to be.
