SAN ANGELO – Big offensive nights from a trio of Angelo State volleyball attackers –
Evelyn Torres,
Madi Parrish, and
Hannah Kinnison – saw the Rambelles overcome dropping the first set to Texas Woman's on Wednesday night inside the Junell Center – Stephens Arena to beat the Pioneers in four sets.
The Belles committed four service errors and five attacking errors in the opening frame that saw the visitors claim a 25-17 victory. The Belles rebounded to win set two 25-20 and three 25-13 before a tight fourth set saw the Belles claim the set 25-23 and, ultimately, the match.
The Belles hit .250 as a team for the match while holding the Pioneers to a .155 percentage. The Belles also out-killed the Pioneers 63-43 and out-dug TWU 79-70.
Torres led all players with 18 kills and a .485 hitting percentage; the 18 kills match her career-high set on September 16
th against UAFS. The senior also came one dig short of a double-double with nine digs and tied a season-high mark with a pair of service aces.
Parrish recorded her second double-double of the season with 15 kills and 13 digs, with both numbers being new career bests for the freshman. She hit .316 for the match, and since the beginning of conference play, she is hitting .418 with 3.90 kills per set.
Kinnison added 14 kills, her sixth-straight match with ten or more kills.
Elsa Lamphere had eight kills, and middles
Cate Boldrick and
Marina Sanchez had three apiece, with the latter not committing an error in seven attempts.
Laney Dale turned in a 27-assist, 14-dig performance for her sixth double-double of the season, and sophomore
Kayla Baer assisted 19 times off the bench.
Libero
Caleigh Enax led all players with 18 digs, the most for the junior in LSC play so far this season.
The Belles improve to 13-2 overall and 3-0 in conference play; they are back on the road this weekend to take on Midwestern State in Wichita Falls on Saturday.
