SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State volleyball team ended their first weekend in a home in over a month with a sweep of Texas A&M-Kingsville on Saturday afternoon inside the Junell Center – Stephens Arena in a match that saw graduate student
Evelyn Torres surpass the 1,000-career kill mark.
The Rambelles took set one 25-20 before taking set two 25-19 and closing the match with a 25-15 win in set three.
Torres, who needed 15 kills to reach the century mark, secured the milestone with the set point in set two. The Fort Worth native had five kills in the first set before notching ten sets in set two and seven in the final set. Her 22 kills are the second-most for Torres in a single match in her career.
Torres, a Global Security Systems student, hit .463 for the match as she paced a Belles attack that hit .292 on the afternoon.
Madi Parrish joined Torres in double-digits with 14 kills. She had three aces and hit .360.
Adeline Ortman dished out 31 assists and recorded a double-double by adding 13 digs. Libero
Caleigh Enax fell shy of a double-double with 17 digs and nine assists.
Ireland Ferguson had seven digs, and
Demi Carter added five kills.
The Belles improve to 15-2 on the season and 5-1 in LSC play. This season, they improve to 5-1 inside the Junell Center – Stephens Arena. On Wednesday, they are back in action in Silver City to take on Western New Mexico.
