Rams Win Six Straight, Defeating Sul Ross State 57-10 on Homecoming Night

SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Angelo State football team celebrated Homecoming with a 57-10 win over Sul Ross State on Saturday night at LeGrand Stadium at 1st Community Credit Union Field.
 
The win moves the Rams to 6-2 overall and 6-0 in Lone Star Conference play as the Rams become the only undefeated team in league play.
 
After an early field goal by the Lobos, the Rams took the lead as Eric Rascoe intercepted the ball before returning it 26 yards for the score.
 
Late in the first quarter, Cameron Dischler extended the lead on a two-yard run to go up 14-3.
 
The Lobos kept up the fight in the second, throwing a 23-yard touchdown pass to bring the game to one score.
 
Angelo State pulled ahead in the final five minutes of the first half, scoring three touchdowns in that time. Jayden Jones ran in a score from four yards out while Dischler added two more scores, a two-yard rushing touchdown and a 27-yard receiving touchdown as the Rams went into the break with a 36-10 lead.
 
The Rams racked up 548 total yards of offense, passing for 353 yards while adding 195 yards on the ground. The defense held the Lobos to 173 yards of offense, including only 39 rushing yards.
 
Stephen Woods led the Rams with six tackles on the night and added an interception while Jatavian Neal and Kenton Allen finished with five tackles each. ASU collected 10 tackles for loss as a team, including four sacks.
 
Jones rushed for his second touchdown of the night late in the third quarter from one yard out. Jones led the Rams with 80 rushing yards, averaging over seven yards a carry.
 
Braeden Fuller threw for 287 yards on 17-of-23 passing with a touchdown while Kaeden Smith was 4-for-4 with 66 yards and a score.
 
The Rams added two more touchdowns in the fourth quarter as Zeek Freeman caught a 38-yard pass from Smith and Canon Wiese found the endzone on an eight-yard run to bring the game to its final score.
 
ASU is back at home next weekend for a key LSC matchup as the Rams welcome in Central Washington on Saturday, Nov. 2 with kick off set for 6 p.m.
