Rambelles Draw with Lady Buffs

San Angelo, Texas - The Angelo State women's soccer team earned a point against West Texas A&M in a physical match up that resulted in a 0-0 draw at The Pitch in Canyon, Texas on Tuesday evening.

The Rambelles move to 9-1-5 overall and 7-0-3 in Lone Star Conference action. The Lady Buffs move to 6-7-2 overall and 3-5-2 in LSC play.

The first shot of the contest would come in the 15th minute when Madison Bourzikas would get past WT line of defense sending the ball high over the goal.

Abby James would then the ball from half field and dribble it up from just outside the box rifling it just over the goal post as this was the first real chance for the Rambelles.

Madison Stokes the ex-Belles soccer player would be the one to get the first shot for the Lady Buffs as she would send a shot from way outside the box over the goal at the 26th minute mark.

Madison Maxey would get the last shot of first half as she would make good contact, but due to the wind the ball would go just right of the goal.

At halftime, the top defense in the LSC would once again dominate only allowing one shot in the half. The Rambelles offense would only be able to get five shots off in the first half with none being on goal.

In the second half the Rambelles would come out firing as Abby James would get the first shot on target for the Rambelles as the ball would be directly at Reagan Heelan.

The ex-Rambelle Stokes would once again see action on offense as she would record the only shot on target for Lady Buffs as Amber Lockwood would dive to her left to keep the game tied at 0-0.

In the 66th minute, the Rambelles would have their first real chance of the half as Sophia Barrientos would line up for a corner kick that would bounce off an WT defender and then finding Grace Jordan but would not get a good touch on it as the ball would be secured by the Lady Buffs keeper

In the 69th minute, Katelin Heise would send a shot from outside the box into the box, but the keeper would jump to tap the ball over the goal resulting in a corner kick for the Rambelles.

Emily Thames would line up for the corner kick the ball would find the top of Christina Clark head, but the goalie was ready for it as she would gather the ball keeping the game 0-0 with 20 minutes remaining in the contest.

In the last ten minutes of player the Rambelles would record six shots with none of them being able to find the back of the net ending the match in a 0-0 draw.

Amber Lockwood would record her 9th clean sheet of the season as the Rambelles after recording one save on the night.

The defense would collect their 11th clean sheet of the year as they would only allow three shots with one shot being on target compared to the Lady Buffs back line allowing 21 shots with nine being on target for the Blue and Gold.

The Rambelles return home Friday night Nov.1rst when they take on Sul Ross State on Senior Night with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m.

From Travis McCorkle: Q: What did you think about today's match after having 21 shots but the game ending in a 0-0 draw? "I got to throw down a challenge for my forwards you can't have 21 shots and end the match with the result that we did. We had 16 shots in the second half alone. We should have come out of here with three points, and not the result that we did. The defense did well enough on their part to get us the win it was a little shaky in the first half, but in the second half it was a lot better, but the forwards need to be more clinical in finishing the chances that we do create. We now have no margin of error in the standings, I hope that the team can respond to this result, and it's not just a one match response, but multiple match responses to end the season strong."
