Rams Cruise in Dominant Win over UT Tyler

Tyler, Texas – The Angelo State men's basketball team rebounded from their defeat on Thursday evening with an emphatic 64-47 win over UT Tyler on Saturday afternoon inside the Harrington Patriot Center.

The 47 points is the fewest the Rams have allowed in a game all season.

The Rams never trailed and started the game off by scoring the first ten points of the contest in the opening 3:35 of game action.

The Rams shot 43.1 percent from the field and 29 percent from three; however, the Rams' defense held the Patriots to 33 percent shooting overall and 14.3 percent from three. The Rams also out-rebounded the Patriots 39-37 and only committed six turnovers.

Trey Farrer and Shemar Smith scored in double figures for the Rams with 13 and ten points, respectively.

In only 16 minutes of action, Farrer shot 6-for-7 from the field, grabbing four rebounds and two steals.

Kevon Godwin had nine points, making three three-pointers, and assisted seven times.

DJ Basey had eight points and six rebounds, and Willie Guy had seven points, and led all players with nine rebounds, a new career-high for the senior point guard.

The Rams improve to 18-9 overall on the season and 13-8 in LSC play; the Rams close out the regular season next Thursday in Odessa as they take on UT Permian Basin, who are coming off a road win over No. 8 DBU.
